No one expected him to toe the line of managing squads much less the hardest one could possibly be in charge of. Such consensus was gotten from his former team mates, Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Ronaldo Nazario and more.

For a start, the World Cup winner is considered to be too introverted to be handed the role of leading a team. If there is one thing Galaticos don’t get to have is the privacy of shutting themselves out of the world. For a clearer picture, the recently releasedESPN Top 100 most famous sports personalities list has 6 current Real Madrid players on it.

In an atmosphere such as the one encountered in the Bernabeu settings, choosing to go on the quiet drowns your potential as a marketable professional.

Still, it didn’t stop the least person expected to become a manger among the Galaticos generation at the beginning of this Millennialfrom winning two Champions League trophies within 17 months.

People are going to keep wondering just how he did it. From being eerily confident of his ability to spreading it across the players, unlike most coaches before him, the French man, a top player of his generation, has never been in the want of proving himself to his crew. Following the loss to Barcelona in the El Clasico, La Liga leaders Real Madrid face serious pressure to win the rest of their games if they want to lift the local league.

Coach Zinedine Zidane has admitted that he did not fully understand the team’s position and this could lead to far-reaching consequences for the team.

Captain Sergio Ramos was sent off in the game but Madrid left on just Nacho as the defender. They were a goal down and then they lost a man. Barcelona could not afford to sit back with their advantage so they pressed hard for a winner. They were all out to seal the game following the red card so they were reckless at the back, allowing substitute James Rodriguez tap in a Marcelo cross.

The game was settled at 2-2 but Madrid did not cover their backs well – the same mistake Barcelona made few minutes back. It was at their home and there were just few minutes left to play. They should have protected the scoreline but they pushed forward.

Barcelona went out with Sergio Roberto doing the bulk of the work through an incredible run. Lionel Messi ended up scoring his 500th career goal and a memorable one against their arch rivals. Continue reading 'REAL MADRID TO LOSE LA LIGA TITLE?'»

Being able to become a regular starter in a club like Real Madrid is a fairly difficult thing to accomplish as the Spanish outfit is filled with superstars and high-profile performers in almost every position.

Whenever another talented player starts making waves in Europe or any other continent, Real Madrid is one of the clubs that is always interested in signing that player and not afraid to offload a huge amount of money in order to secure the services of that specific performer.

This is one of the reasons of why it’s not so easy to become a consistent first-team performer in a club like Real Madrid or any other that is willing to dish out cash to strengthen their respective squads.

Even though Raphael Varane is only 23 years old, he has managed to become a hugely influential player for Real Madrid since he was 20 but now the French defender has picked up a thigh injury which will be leaving him out of the pitch between 4 to 7 weeks. Real Madrid on Saturday retained their 6-point lead over archrivals Barcelona while setting a new club record of 35-matches unbeaten as against the previous one set by Leo Benhakkers’ Los Blancos during the 1988-89 season.

With many of their stars rested while some are still receiving treatments, Zinedine Zidane set up a starting eleven of unfamiliar combination to face relegation threatened Deportivo La Coruna. Not as if Real’s side didn’t have the quality to brush off La Branquiazuis, Still, they struggled to get on their strides throughout the opening 45 minutes, giving Gaizka Garitano’s side initiatives to open the scoring time and again. Deportivo came close to doing just that when a header tipped off the post and somehow managed to lob over an onrushing player’s head as he slid into the open net while the ball bounced away fromMadrid’s goal line.

Despite the sub-par first half, Los Merengues were one-nil up, five minutes into the second half thanks to home boy Alvaro Morata’s vicious low drive into the bottom right hand corner.

Whether it be in the spirit of academy graduates having at it at chances being presented to them, or another thing entirely, Real found themselves behind in the space of two minutes courtesy of two quick goals from on-loan striker Joselu – another Real graduate. The first resulted from a rare error by Casemiro when he easily got disposed of the ball at the teeth of Keylor Navas’ penalty box while the second came from Sergio Ramos’s inability to close down and tidy out an onrushing Deportivo player. Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane surprised many by opting for Toni Kroos in the recent Copa del Rey game against Cultural Leonesa.

The second division outfit would not be a major competitor for the 11 time European champions. Hence, first-team regulars like Toni Kroos were expected to be rested for the game. It was not the case and the German midfielder played in this match on Wednesday. The selection by the Real Madrid manager has been criticised since it does not help the player recover in time for the game against Alaves this weekend.

Madrid are expected to take the game quite seriously considering that the opposition have already secured some positive results this season. One of the most high-profile results in the history of the club came in the 2-1 win against Barcelona recently. Zidane, though, says that the unavailability of players like Luka Modric severely depleted the squad and he had no other option but to play the German international. Zidane Satisfied with Hardfought Win against Celta De Vigo

Real Madrid were not at the brilliant best in the recent 2-1 win over Celta de Vigo, but manager Zinedine Zidane is hopeful that the team will show improvement in the coming weeks.

Madrid had to fight hard in order to get this victory. This preserves their 100% start to the season after the team opened up with a convincing 3-0 win over Real Sociedad. After managing victory in the Champions League in his first season as the manager, Zidane is now looking forward to removing Barcelona from the top of the La Liga.

Barcelona have been hugely successful in terms of league titles over the last decade. Even though Madrid still hold the record for the most number of Spanish league titles, they are in danger of being caught by the arch rivals. The last league title won by Madrid was back in the 2011-12 campaign, which shows the scale of disaster at Santiago Bernabeu. It looks like the club will once again have a tough time in the domestic competition, as they struggled to overcome a very average Celta de Vigo team. It took almost an hour for Madrid to find a way past the stubborn away defence. Alvaro Morata opened the scoring before Toni Kroos came up with the winner nine minutes from time.
