MOURINHO WANTS MODRIC
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has taken up the task of bringing Luka Modric to the club in his own hands. The Tottenham midfielder has been linked with a move to Spanish club Real Madrid for the last couple of weeks now, but José Mourinho has been unable to lay his hands on the player up until now. Tottenham are extremely confident that they need not sell the player for any bids below £ 40 million, which is their valuation of the Croatian midfielder. However, the 26-year-old has gone AWOL for the past couple of days to miss the pre-season tour of the United States.
As a result, Real Madrid believed that the deal can be finalised for around £ 30 million. Due to the extensive delay in getting their man, it is thought that Real Madrid manager José Mourinho is willing to take matters into his own hands by persuading Tottenham to sell the player. José Mourinho sees the Croatian midfielder as the missing link towards making Real Madrid Champions League winners once again. The Portuguese manager has faltered with the Spanish club in the semi-final stage of the competition in the last two seasons. He has made it a priority of the club focusing on the Champions League this season.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas recently said that he would like the future of the star midfielder sorted out as soon as possible. Tottenham have experienced the same situation on a number of times before including back in 2008 when Dimitar Berbatov forced a £ 31 million move to Manchester United. Tottenham were seriously affected in the domestic league due to the transfer situation of Dimitar Berbatov and Andre Villas-Boas is keen to avoid a repeat of the same situation this time around as well, as he looks to invest in new players.
