JOSE BACKS SPAIN AND GERMANY
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has said that Spain and Germany are the two teams that are favourite to lift the Euro 2012 title. The European Championships will be taking place in Poland and Ukraine this time around. Spain will be coming into the tournament after having lifted the previous edition, while they also have the tag as being the world champions as well. Germany, who have come extremely close to winning each of the last three major tournaments, will be hoping to go one step further by lifting the tournament this time around.
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, who recently signed a contract extension with the Spanish club, has said that Germany and Spain are the favourites to lift the title due to their quality and strength in depth. Even though Spain have suffered a number of injury problems in the run-up to the tournament, Germany remains the most effective when it comes to dealing with injuries. They not only have a fully fit squad to select from, but they have a very strong squad as well according to José Mourinho. Germany have not failed to disappoint in the first matches of the campaign after winning against Portugal and Netherlands.
“Spain are the world champions and no doubts about that. They are one of the best teams at the Euros, but they have to compete with Germany to be champions again. You speak about Spain and Barca, but the national team of Spain has five Madrid players. They’re completely separate things. Barcelona were the champions of Spain, and I repeat, were the champions. Now they don’t depend on other teams, they depend only on themselves. So if they can do a job against Netherlands, Portugal are in the quarter-finals,” said José Mourinho when predicting the outcome of the Euro 2012.
